Visit London and the London Development Agency have launched the Visit London Approved Marque for hotels, guest accommodation and hostels in the capital.
The Marque is being launched to offer reassurance to visitors that any accommodation they book is ‘fit for purpose’, clean, safe and will provide an appropriate level of guest care. It is a key part in London’s strategy to build a quality experience for visitors during the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games in 2012.
The new scheme is free and will work in parallel with the existing national star rating scheme run by VisitEngland and the AA as a basic level entry.
From April 2010, Visit London will only promote accommodation which has achieved at least a minimum standard of guest care and been awarded a ‘Visit London Approved’ Marque, or which is star rated through VisitEngland or the AA.
The Marque consists of a set of criteria that looks at a wide range of facilities and services within your business. There is also a code of conduct to sign.
To be awarded the Marque, you will need to receive a short assessment visit. These are being undertaken on behalf of Visit London and the London Development Agency by the specialist advisors LiveTourism.
Accommodation businesses with a star rating in the national scheme run by VisitEngland or the AA will automatically qualify for the basic level Marque.
